ABOUT THE GARDEN & IT'S PURPOSE IN HELPING ANIMAL CHARITIES

My name is Ann Rook. My spray free garden is open to the public on the day of the Greenhithe Garden Ramble which brings a large number of people to Greenhithe in November each year.

The intention behind opening is to raise funds for animals, predominantly dog protection registered charities. I have an extra soft spot for dogs - you can see why http://www.aucklanddoggroomingtrainingcentre.blogspot.com/

I serve tasting sized servings of Champagne style (sparkling) fruit wine during which time people make gold coin donations. To make it clear we DO expect donations to be made for the animals. We are NOT allowed by law to receive money for an exchange of alcohol even when ALL the money is supporting a registered charity so yes, we are being a bit "cute" by using a voucher system wherein a gold coin buys a voucher which is then exchanged for a tasting.

We do NOT serve minors.

We will then post to this website a note as per 2009 (see foot of site below) showing how much money was raised.

2010 SUPPORTING THE DOG PROTECTION SOCIETY INC.

WHICH ORGANISATION BENEFITED THIS 2009 YEAR

The Animal Welfare organisation I chose to support in 2009 was Lanta Animal Welfare see: http://www.lantaanimalwelfare.com/

Lanta is a volunteer, non-profit organisation located on Koh lanta Island in South Thailand. Their mission is to help solve the over-population and suffering of stray dogs and cats by first and foremost humane sterlization programs. There are no government or charitable agencies to protect the animals from abuse (which is rife and shocking). It is left to a few animal lovers who house large numbers and use their own funds and manpower.

Veterinarians and people from around the World volunteer to work at Lanta. This group needs donations presently to build a small clinic on the Island so travelling vets can come and work both with sterilization and helping injured animals.
A friend of mine volunteered to walk dogs for Lanta in Thailand this year. The dog she was walking had been deliberately burned with hot oil to dissuade it from scavenging. When I saw the Lanta website it broke my heart and I hope that my efforts in some small way can help these animals and I can send some love and money to them.

AMOUNT RAISED FOR LANTA DECEMBER 2009
I am happy to report my family and the people of Greenhithe donated a total of €90.00 EUR to Lanta this year. Here is a copy of relevant portion of the Paypal receipt. Please note the Paypal emblem is disabled from being copied so we have included the receipt number below.
